A red-listed bison from Belarus has been brought to the Nizhny Novgorod Zoo.

      The Nizhny Novgorod zoo "Limpopo" has a new addition. In anticipation of the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus, a female bison was brought from the Mogilev zoo to her new permanent home. This species is listed in the Red Book of Russia as endangered. Specialists from the Interregional Office of Rosprirodnadzor for the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Republic of Mordovia were present at the release of the animal into the enclosure at the invitation of the zoo management. The new resident was welcomed by numerous visitors. According to experts, the female bison is 3 years old and may currently be pregnant. The animal adapted well to the move from Belarus. For the next month, it will be kept in a separate enclosure for quarantine before joining the other bison in the zoo.
