A Nizhny Novgorod resident received 14 years in a penal colony for treason in the interests of Ukraine.
On April 8, 2026, at 12:09, Incidents: The court's verdict against residents of the Nizhny Novgorod and Tver regions, found guilty of treason in the interests of Ukraine, has entered into legal force. This was reported by the FSB of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region. According to the agency, illegal activities were identified and suppressed by FSB employees in the Nizhny Novgorod and Tver regions.
As established by the investigation, a resident of Nizhny Novgorod formed a negative attitude towards the special military operation in a resident of Tver through correspondence on Telegram, after which he persuaded him to join a banned Ukrainian terrorist organization on the territory of Russia. The recruited resident of Tver was to commit crimes in the interests of the terrorists and fight against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
It is noted that during the investigation, evidence was collected regarding the involvement of the defendants in the incriminated crimes. The court found the defendants guilty and imposed a sentence. The resident of Tver was sentenced to 16 years and 9 months in prison: the first three years he will spend in prison, the remaining term in a strict regime colony. The resident of the Nizhny Novgorod region was sentenced to 14 years in prison, with the first three years in prison and the subsequent 11 years in a strict regime colony.
