State and private healthcare are joining efforts to increase birth rates in the region. An expert discussion titled "Reserves for Increasing Birth Rates" brought together chief physicians from state and private medical institutions in the Nizhny Novgorod region, heads of women's consultations, doctors, and medical psychologists. Governor Gleb Nikitin reminded that from July 2025 to February 2026, the total birth rate coefficient in the region increased from 1.267 to 1.303. This is the result of comprehensive work, including within the framework of national projects "Long and Active Life" and "Family." In 2025, the number of abortions at the request of women in state medical organizations amounted to just over 1,500 cases. This is a third less than in 2024 and almost five times less than ten years ago. State and private healthcare are joining efforts to increase birth rates. If at the beginning of 2025, 55 private clinics had licenses for abortions, now there are only 9. Patients are provided with a comprehensive range of psychological, spiritual, social, and legal support. The effectiveness of pre-abortion counseling in state organizations is higher than in private ones - 22% and 9.5%, respectively.
The volume of industrial production in the Nizhny Novgorod region increased by almost 6% and closely approached 2.5 trillion rubles. In 2025, 7 billion rubles were attracted for the implementation of national projects for technological leadership. New directions are being developed: within the framework of the national project "Unmanned Aerial Systems," a specialized scientific and production center was created, and under the national project "Means of Production and Automation," the region received a federal grant to create a Center for Industrial Robotics. At the meeting, awards were presented to leaders in industrial production, with the governor handing out 32 honorary awards. The "Honorary Industrialist" badge was awarded to: General Director of the Pravdinsky Radio Plant Vladimir Gurbich, Chairman of the Scientific and Technical Council of NPP "Polet" Alexey Komyakov, General Director of AO "Hydroaggregate" Pavel Redko, General Director of the Nizhny Novgorod Television Plant named after V.I. Lenin Sergey Samoylov, General Director of the Bor Pipe Plant Anatoly Chernyshov.
The XXI International Exhibition-Forum "Intourmarket" took place in Nizhny Novgorod. The Nizhny Novgorod Fair hosted the XXI International Exhibition-Forum of Hospitality Regions "Intourmarket." Russia's Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov noted that the Nizhny Novgorod region has made a leap in tourism development. Reshetnikov proposed to work on launching direct flights from China and the issue of including Nizhny Novgorod in a joint program with Moscow for promotion within the national brand Discover Russia. By 2030, with federal support, 16 new hotels with a capacity of over 2,300 rooms will be built in the region, with 50 billion rubles allocated for these purposes. Since 2021, the number of trips by foreign tourists to the Nizhny Novgorod region through Chkalov Airport has increased more than fivefold.
Nizhny Novgorod discussed the development of auto tourism in Russia. Nizhny Novgorod became a platform for discussing the future of auto tourism in Russia. At the round table of the XXI International Exhibition-Forum "Intourmarket," they discussed how auto tourism contributes to the development of territories. Auto tourism is one of the key areas of work for the region within the framework of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality." The Nizhny Novgorod region is actively working on the development of auto routes. Natalia Pletnikova, head of the transport solutions center "Modern Transport Technologies," noted that there are many interesting places within a radius of 60 to 200 km from Nizhny Novgorod, which are currently difficult to reach by public transport. One of the promising solutions is the launch of specialized tourist transport for small groups. It is also important to provide opportunities for auto travel for people with health limitations.
Nizhny Novgorod's employment centers ranked among the best in the country based on the results of 2025. The Nizhny Novgorod region ranked fifth among regions participating in the comprehensive modernization of the employment service based on the results of 2025. The region received a high score of 96.42 out of 100 possible. The rating was compiled by the Federal Competence Center in the field of employment of the VNIIT Labor of the Ministry of Labor of Russia. The modernization of employment centers meets the objectives of the national project "Personnel." When compiling the rating, the convenience of the location of employment centers, their accessibility for people with limited mobility, and the proactive approach of specialists in interacting with job seekers and employers were evaluated. Thanks to the restructuring of the employment service in the region, it has been possible to achieve a record low level of registered unemployment. As of today, it stands at 0.007%.
