Nizhny Novgorod's "Chaika" clinched their second victory in the Kharlamov Cup series.

      April 4, 2026 16:22 Sports Nizhny Novgorod's "Chaika" secured their second victory in the series against "Irbis" in the 1/8 finals of the Kharlamov Cup. The match in Kazan ended with a score of 3:2 in favor of the guests.

      The hosts started the match actively (6+) and by the seventh minute led 2:0. The guests tried to reduce the deficit in the first period. But the puck did not cross the goal line.

      In the second period, "Chaika" narrowed the gap. The puck was scored by defender Sergey Guryyev. Shortly before the break, the Nizhny Novgorod team sent another puck into the net along with the siren. However, the replay showed that it crossed the goal line after the period time had expired. The goal was not counted.

      They managed to equalize in the third period during a power play. Viktor Fedorov tipped the puck from Alexander Yatsenko's shot and restored the balance — 2:2. Then, the winning puck in the match was scored by Yan Melnikov.

      It is worth noting that the day before, "Chaika" also proved stronger than "Irbis," winning the first match of the series in overtime with a score of 3:2. The next game (6+) of the series will take place in Nizhny Novgorod on April 7.
