A criminal case was opened after complaints of violence at the Nizhny Novgorod rehab center.

      April 3, 2026 12:09 Incidents The Nizhny Novgorod Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case regarding illegal deprivation of liberty and torture following complaints from residents of the "Rassvet" rehabilitation center network. Subdivisions of this network are located in Nizhny Novgorod, Vacha, and Bogorodsk, the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia reported. The reason for the investigation was information that appeared in the media. In particular, patients told journalists from the TV program "By the Way..." (16+) about instances of humiliation, beatings, and cruel treatment. According to them, the centers also lacked qualified medical assistance, even though patients paid for their stay in rehab. Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin instructed the leadership of the regional department to report on the progress of the investigation and to verify the claims made in the publications.
