More than 1 million rubles were recovered from the homeowners' association for the fall of an icicle on a Nizhny Novgorod resident's car.
March 31, 2026 14:31 Society The bailiffs have managed to recover a significant amount from the homeowners' association (HOA) after an icicle fell on a car. The car owner received compensation of over 1.1 million rubles, the press service of the Federal Bailiff Service for the Nizhny Novgorod region reported. Last winter in Nizhny Novgorod, an icicle fell from the roof of one of the buildings and seriously damaged a parked car. The court established that the HOA did not ensure the proper maintenance of the common property, which was the cause of the incident. As a result, the court ordered the organization to compensate the car owner for the damages incurred. However, since the HOA did not want to voluntarily pay the money within the established deadlines, the bailiff issued a ruling to collect an enforcement fee of about 140,000 rubles and to recover the debt from the HOA's bank accounts. This allowed for the forced collection of the debt and the restoration of the rights of the owner of the damaged car. It is worth noting that against the backdrop of heavy snowfall in Nizhny Novgorod, there were also tragic incidents. On Varvarskaya Street, a 19-year-old girl died due to snow falling from a roof, and several children were injured in the city center, along with a mother and child in Avtozavod.
