Intervals-2026 will cover more than 20 locations in Nizhny Novgorod.
On March 31, 2026, at 22:43, the program for the international multimedia festival Intervals 2026 (0+) was presented in Saint Petersburg. This was reported by a correspondent from NIA "Nizhny Novgorod".
In 2026, the festival will take place in Nizhny Novgorod from April 23 to 26. It will unite 23 venues across the city. Indoor spaces and open urban areas will become part of a free multimedia exhibition and will also be involved in the event program.
The project organizer, the company dreamlaser, is once again structuring the festival's geography as a sequential route through diverse urban locations. This includes cultural centers and exhibition spaces, as well as embankments, slopes, and industrial sites. Thus, the festival not only explores the urban environment but also offers a new perspective on familiar and lesser-known places, uniting them into a single cultural route.
Among the indoor venues are the Nizhny Novgorod Fair, the Exhibition Warehouse, MediaHall, the Center for Contemporary Art "Terminal A", Arsenal (Volga-Vyatka branch of the A.S. Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts), "Protected Quarters", the cultural center "Record", and the Zelensky Congress.
Street locations include the Lighthouse Academy, Chkalov Stairs, Strelka, the Lower Volga Embankment, Sverdlov Square, Sergievsky Ravine, the courtyard of the "Nizhpoligraf" labor complex, Dedov Arena "Torpedo", the "Guarantee" bank, Shukhov Reservoirs, and other spaces.
The festival continues to view the urban environment as a key element of artistic expression. Not only the artwork itself plays an important role, but also its interaction with the place, its history, and visual environment.
"Each location of INTERVALS is part of a common statement. We work not only with artworks but also with the context of the place: its architecture, rhythm, history, and how it is perceived by the viewer. In this sense, the festival map becomes a script for the meeting of media art and the city," emphasized the festival curator Anna Gagarina.
It is worth noting that "Protected Quarters", the "Guarantee" bank, Shukhov Reservoirs, and MediaHall are being used for the first time.
In a conversation with NIA "Nizhny Novgorod", the curator noted that one of the most technically challenging venues will be Chkalov Stairs. The main difficulty is related to the peculiarities of its architecture: unlike conventional facades, it features an elongated stair structure with perspective distortions, complex geometry, and a large number of steps.
Viewers are advised to observe the show from the lower point — this way, the composition is perceived most holistically. At the same time, visitors will be allowed to enter the installation.
