A former employee of IK-20 in the Nizhny Novgorod region will be tried for bribery.

      March 31, 2026 16:33 Incidents In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the investigation into the criminal case against the former head of the educational work department with convicts of IK-20 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the region has been completed. The materials with the approved indictment have been sent to court.

      According to law enforcement agencies, the man is accused of receiving a large bribe and exceeding his official powers for selfish reasons.

      According to the investigation, in 2025 he received over 200,000 rubles from a convict for the illegal smuggling of mobile phones, chargers, headphones, SIM cards, and food products into the restricted zone. The prohibited items were subsequently handed over to the serving sentence.

      The illegal actions were detected and stopped by the FSB and the Internal Security Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region. During the investigation, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the accused.

      A criminal case has also been initiated against the alleged briber. He is charged with giving a large bribe to an official, and the investigation is ongoing.

      It was previously reported that the former head of IK-5 in the Nizhny Novgorod colony was sentenced to 12.5 years in prison. He was found guilty of fraud, exceeding official powers, and receiving bribes.
