The improvement of public areas within the framework of the FCGS has begun in Nizhny Novgorod.

March 31, 2026 16:17 Society The Mayor of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, announced that as favorable weather has settled in, the city administration is starting to improve public areas as part of the "Formation of a Comfortable Urban Environment" program. This season, work will be carried out at seven locations, the city head reported on his Max channel.

The Park named after the 777th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod (Phase 2) will receive a new skate park, modern lighting, beach and play areas. Tennis tables will also be installed, making the space more attractive for residents and visitors.

The square named after Cosmonaut Komarov (Phase 1) will be updated: plans include replacing the surface, installing benches and tennis tables. Trees and shrubs will be planted for landscaping, creating a pleasant atmosphere for relaxation.

The green area opposite the "Korabli" residential complex (Phase 1) will become a place for active recreation: a hockey box, a children's play area, and tennis tables will be added. The area will be landscaped, adding coziness and comfort.

The space on the Oil Refiners Boulevard in Kstovo will undergo changes: the surface will be replaced, benches will be installed, and a children's play area will be created. This will make the boulevard more attractive for families with children.

The public area in the village of Malaya Yelnya between Sadovaya and Svetlaya streets will be equipped with children's and sports zones. For the convenience of visitors, lighting will be installed and new paths will be laid, ensuring comfortable use of the space at any time of day.

The slope in the Privolzhsky settlement in Kstovo will receive updated lighting, a children's playground, benches, and trash bins. This will create a safe and comfortable environment for walking and relaxation.

The pedestrian zone on Victory Avenue in Kstovo will also be improved: plans include replacing the paths' surface, installing benches and trash bins. This will make the walking route more attractive and convenient for residents.

Yuri Shalabaev noted that work has already begun in the Avtozavodsky and Leninsky districts of Nizhny Novgorod. In the Sormovsky district and on the boulevard in Kstovo, contractors are awaiting permits to carry out the work. For the other public spaces, the contract signing procedure is underway, and in the second decade of April, workers will begin the improvements. In recent years, about 300 public spaces have been improved in Nizhny Novgorod, and this trend will continue. The FCGS program aims to improve the quality of life for residents and create more attractive conditions for recreation and active leisure.
