The ZSNO has expanded the list of those awarded the medal for supporting the SVO.

      March 27, 2026 18:45 Society The deputies of the Legislative Assembly made changes to the regulation on the medal "For Support of the Special Military Operation" at today's meeting. According to the adopted amendments, the award can now be received not only by residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region but also by representatives from other regions of Russia who have shown an active civic position and are providing assistance in the region. Furthermore, the annual quota for awards has been increased from 500 to 700 people. It is noted that this will allow for the recognition of a greater number of volunteers and activists whose work deserves public acknowledgment. The document also clarifies the procedure for reviewing award materials. The medal "For Support of the SMO" was established by the Legislative Assembly in the fall of 2025. Since its inception, more than 200 residents of Nizhny Novgorod have been awarded — volunteers, entrepreneurs, public figures, educators, and clergymen. They assist military personnel and their families, collect humanitarian aid, make camouflage nets, and participate in the restoration of housing in new regions. The speaker of the ZSNO, Evgeny Lyulin, emphasized that the medal honors those who have been involved in the work from the very first days and provide support to soldiers and civilians. "Expanding the geography of the awardees will allow us to support those residents from other regions who help us here, in Nizhny Novgorod. And increasing the annual quota to 700 people is an opportunity to thank a larger number of activists," he noted.
