A top-5 list of chief doctors of Nizhny Novgorod hospitals with a salary above 300,000 has been compiled.

      March 26, 2026 15:59 Society Data on the salaries of chief doctors of medical institutions in the Nizhny Novgorod region for 2025 has been published. The regional health ministry released this information on its official website. The editorial team of NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" compiled a top-5 list of the highest-paid specialists.

      The first place in the ranking was taken by the chief doctor of the anti-tuberculosis dispensary in the Kanavinsky district, Ivan Shmelov, whose average monthly salary last year was 433.7 thousand rubles. At the same time, four of his deputies earned an average of between 239 thousand and 295.8 thousand rubles. The chief accountant also had a salary at the level of 295.9 thousand rubles.

      Over the year, the chief doctor of maternity hospital No. 4 in the Lenin district, Elvira Bitkina, dropped from first to second place in the salary ranking. Although in 2025 she started earning more - her average monthly salary was 396.8 thousand rubles compared to 314.8 thousand in 2024. One of her three deputies surpassed her - earning 409.9 thousand rubles. The other two deputies earned between 207.6 thousand and 238.4 thousand rubles.

      In third place is the chief doctor of hospital No. 33 in the Lenin district, Pavel Zubeev, with an average monthly salary of 379.2 thousand rubles. The salaries of his four deputies range from 236.7 thousand to 316 thousand rubles. It is worth noting that in February, Zubeev and his daughter, head of the ophthalmology department, were detained. His daughter is currently in custody and has been charged with fraud. Zubeev himself was hospitalized shortly after his detention with a heart attack. He underwent surgery, and no charges have been brought against him yet. According to law enforcement, about 50 million rubles were found in Pavel Zubeev's cottage.

      In fourth place in the ranking is Alexander Yeremeyev, the chief doctor of the anti-tuberculosis sanatorium "Bobylsky" (Vadsky district). His average monthly salary was 377.3 thousand rubles.

      Closing the top five is Olga Manuilenko, the chief doctor of the city clinical hospital No. 40 in Avtozavod, with an average monthly income of 368.5 thousand rubles.

      At the same time, according to the regional health ministry, the highest salaries in budget institutions are not held by chief doctors, but by their deputies. For instance, Irina Samarina, the deputy chief doctor for medical affairs at the emergency hospital in Dzerzhinsk, earned an average of 603.2 thousand rubles in 2025. Meanwhile, the deputy chief doctor for economic issues at the same hospital, Valeria Averina, earned 519.3 thousand rubles.

      It was previously reported that as of March 25, Sergey Gamayunov, the head of the Nizhny Novgorod Oncology Center, became the chief doctor of the Semashko Regional Hospital. The former chief doctor of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital, Sergey Bogdanov, took over GKB No. 5, while the former chief doctor of the fifth hospital became the chief doctor of city hospital No. 33.
