March 26, 2026 11:30 Incidents A 36-year-old native of a neighboring republic is accused of fraud with a social contract in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Details were provided by the press service of the regional FSB office.
According to the security agency, in 2023, the man applied to the social protection department of the Diveevo district for social assistance to purchase an embroidery machine. In April of the same year, a social contract was signed with him, under which he was paid 350,000 rubles to carry out activities as a self-employed individual. However, he used the money differently and provided false information about the expenditure of budget funds to the institution.
In addition, this same man was caught for hooliganism in 2024. While intoxicated, he got into a conflict with a 27-year-old resident of Sarov, hitting him several times with his fist and foot in the face and body.
The police have opened criminal cases under part 2 of article 213 and part 3 of article 159.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The court sent him to a pre-trial detention center. The investigation is ongoing.
Earlier, it was reported that a resident of the Lukoyanovsky district received a 3-year suspended sentence for a social contract scam.
