The major repairs of three Nizhny Novgorod schools will be completed only in 2027.

      March 24, 2026 19:20 Society The Mayor of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, checked the progress of the comprehensive major renovation of the main school in the village of Bolshoye Mokroye in the Kstovo district.

      The building, constructed in 1960, has not undergone such a significant update before. The school will completely replace the electrical supply, water supply and drainage systems, ventilation, video surveillance, security, and fire alarm systems. Facade and roof repairs, internal ceilings and staircases, installation of new doors and plumbing fixtures are also planned.

      Separately, the city head instructed to ensure the protection of the basement from flooding by groundwater.

      After the major renovation is completed, the institution will be equipped with modern equipment. The area around the school will be improved, and a street area with exercise equipment will be set up for students.

      As reported by the general director of the MKU "GlavUKS," Sergey Razzhivin, the contractor began work in December. Currently, the demolition phase is almost complete. According to him, the most labor-intensive and "dusty" processes have been completed, and now the installation of engineering networks, restoration of structures, installation of partitions, and pre-finishing work are underway.

      During the visit, Yuri Shalabaev discussed with relevant leaders the implementation of major renovations in other educational institutions of the so-called "big Nizhny."

      The director of the city department of construction and major renovations, Tatyana Geraskina, reported that within the framework of the national project "Youth and Children," six schools in Nizhny Novgorod are undergoing major renovations. Work is planned to be completed this year in three of them — the Bolshmokrin school in the Kstovo district, school No. 123 in the Lenin district, and school No. 48 in the Prioksky district.

      In addition, repairs have begun in several other institutions, with completion scheduled for next year. This includes school No. 1 in the Kstovo district, school No. 93 in the Moscow district, and school No. 76 in the Sormovo district. Major roof repairs are planned for Lyceum No. 28 this year.

      According to Tatyana Geraskina, contractors have been identified for all facilities, and work is proceeding according to schedule.

      It was previously reported that the project for the building of school No. 118 in Nizhny Novgorod will be sent for examination in March. Construction work may begin as early as 2026.
