The former deputy mayor of Nizhny Novgorod will be tried for a bribe of 120,000 rubles.
On March 24, 2026, at 18:04, Politics Former First Deputy Head of Nizhny Novgorod Sergey Egorov will stand trial on charges of receiving a bribe. As reported by the Prosecutor's Office of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the investigation into the criminal case initiated under Part 3 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation has been completed. According to the Investigative Committee, sufficient evidence of the defendant's guilt has been gathered. The case materials with the indictment have been sent for consideration to the Nizhny Novgorod District Court. According to the investigation, from February to September 2025, Egorov, while serving as the First Deputy Mayor, received 120,000 rubles through an intermediary from representatives of a commercial organization and an individual entrepreneur. For this remuneration, law enforcement agencies believe the official was supposed to assist in organizing parking activities on municipal land plots and refrain from taking measures to stop illegal activities. Egorov was detained on December 2, 2025. Soon after, he left his position. The court chose a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest. It is worth noting that Egorov's predecessor, Ilya Shtokman, is also under investigation for a multi-million bribe. His brother, Mikhail Shtokman, has also come under the scrutiny of law enforcement.
