      A 71-year-old resident of Pavlovo reported a case of telephone fraud to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "Pavlovsky." According to the applicant, an unknown woman called her and informed her about the need to extend the service contract for her phone number. Then, she received a call from a man who introduced himself as an assistant to the military prosecutor. He claimed that the woman was financing terrorist activities and needed to switch to a messenger. After that, she was contacted by someone who allegedly worked for Rosfinmonitoring and informed her that the funds in her deposit were under arrest. The scammers convinced the elderly woman of the necessity to declare her funds, stating that a young man would come for the money. To "secure" her savings, the applicant withdrew 700,000 rubles, securely packaged it, and handed it over, acting on the scammers' instructions. After some time, the woman realized that she had been deceived and reported the incident to the police. A criminal case has been initiated under part 3 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed on a large scale). The article's sanction provides for a maximum penalty of up to 6 years in prison. The police are identifying the courier involved in the fraud scheme, as well as the scammers. The police remind: - employees of banks, government agencies, law enforcement structures, and regulatory organizations never call citizens requesting personal information; - employees do not ask to carry out any financial transactions with their savings. - there are no so-called "safe accounts" – this is a scam trick. - In such cases, it is recommended to end the conversation and not to perform any financial transactions with your accounts.
