Energy professionals use VR technologies in training for occupational safety rules.

March 25, 2026 14:02 Society More than 160 employees of the "En+ Heat Volga" enterprises underwent training on labor protection and industrial safety actions using a virtual reality complex at the Avtozavodskaya CHPP. The VR complex is one of the elements of the training ground for practicing the actions of specialists in compliance with labor protection and industrial safety regulations. The evolution of the training ground is a journey from analog solutions to digital ones. "Initially, it was a stand for practicing skills in rescuing a victim from electric shock, then the need arose to train workers in safe methods of working at heights and the proper use of personal protective equipment. Then scaffolding was installed at the training ground. Later, the idea emerged to complement the oral theory on compliance with labor protection and industrial safety requirements with virtual reality technology," says Vitaly Bushuev, head of the industrial safety and labor protection department at the Avtozavodskaya CHPP. The VR complex allows for practicing practical skills acquired during theoretical training. The simulator has 10 programs related to industrial safety and labor protection: from actions in case of fire to safe behavior on construction sites and providing first aid. A projector displays the image from the employee's VR goggles on a large screen. This equipment allows not only the trainee to practice actions but also mentors and colleagues to note the clarity and sequence of task execution in the conditions of a real enterprise. Training using new technologies is popular among young employees, who find this format of information delivery more effective. "A high level of production safety culture and the involvement of each employee in its implementation are important for compliance with labor protection and industrial safety regulations. We are constantly looking for new methods in training, adding new elements to the program. We take into account the specifics of young people, who are accustomed to perceiving information in an interactive format," notes Vitaly Bushuev. In the future, specialists at the Avtozavodskaya CHPP plan to develop the training ground and implement new modern solutions for employee training. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
