The award is presented by InnovaTransport, the All-Russian Passenger Association, the Union of Russian Cities with the support of the Public Council under the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation. "Our region has focused on eco-friendly and comfortable urban transport. Several projects are being implemented in Nizhny Novgorod: a complete modernization of the tram infrastructure, the renewal of all trams, the construction of two new metro stations, testing of electric bus routes, and the construction of a new cable car across the Oka River. After the completion of all projects, we will achieve a completely new quality of public transport. We hope that it will be appreciated by the residents of Nizhny Novgorod and guests of our city," noted the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, secretary of the regional branch of the United Russia party, Gleb Nikitin. The region received an award from experts for the urban electric transport development project implemented by the Ministry of Transport and Highways of the Nizhny Novgorod region in collaboration with the State Budgetary Institution of Nizhny Novgorod "Center for Transport Systems Development" under the supervision of the deputy governor of the region, Sergey Morozov. In the "Rolling Stock" nomination, the city low-floor bus Citymax 8 was named Bus of the Year, which is produced in series at the Pavlovsky Bus Plant. In the same category, the Tram of the Year award went to the "MiNin" tram (T811), a joint Nizhny Novgorod-Belarusian assembly. The solemn award ceremony for the winners of the national award "For Contribution to the Development of Urban Mobility" took place on March 19 at the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation. The best projects were highlighted based on the results of public voting and the decision of an expert jury formed from representatives of industry organizations, government bodies, and the professional community. In the framework of public voting, residents of the regions of the country cast about 217 thousand votes, determining the leaders among projects and initiatives in the field of transport. "We see significant changes in the development of public transport over the past 10 years. The leading cities in transport operations serve as a benchmark for those who are still approaching this issue. The award has managed to identify those who make a personal contribution to such victories, companies, and teams on the ground. This serves as motivation for further transformations and the transmission of best practices across all subjects of the Russian Federation," commented the results of the award chairwoman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Transport of Russia, Tatyana Gorovaya. The award "For Contribution to the Development of Urban Mobility" was established to support the development of urban transport. It was held for the first time in 2025.
