More than 63 thousand residents of Nizhny Novgorod will receive increased pensions starting in April.

      March 23, 2026 10:48 Economy Starting April 1, 2026, social pensions in the Nizhny Novgorod region will be indexed. The amount of payments will increase by 6.8% in accordance with the approved coefficient, reported the regional branch of the Social Fund of Russia.

      The increase will affect citizens who do not have sufficient work experience to qualify for an insurance pension, as well as certain categories of disabled individuals and people who have lost their breadwinner. In the region, 63,903 people will receive the increased payments.

      After the indexing, the amounts of the main types of social pensions will change. Thus, the old-age social pension will rise from 8,824 to 9,424 rubles. Payments for disabled individuals of the first group will increase from 17,648 to 18,848 rubles. The social pension for children with disabilities and disabled individuals from childhood of the first group will amount to 22,618 rubles instead of the previous 21,178.

      The recalculation will be conducted automatically. There will be no need to contact the client services of the Social Fund — the indexing will occur without an application based on already available data. Citizens will receive payments in the increased amount as early as April.

      The regional branch of the Social Fund also warned about the risk of fraud. During this period, fraudsters may offer "pension recalculation" or attempt to obtain personal data. The agency reminded that fund employees do not request personal information and confirmation codes over the phone.

      It is worth noting that about 100,000 residents of Nizhny Novgorod over the age of 80 receive a pension supplement.
