Control over road works will be strengthened in Nizhny Novgorod.

      March 23, 2026 12:36 Society On March 23, another meeting of the deputy association "United Russia" took place in the City Duma of Nizhny Novgorod. It was chaired by the head of the party's active group, Vice-Speaker of the Duma Evgeny Kostin. The Chairman of the Duma, member of the General Council of the party Evgeny Chintsov, also participated in the work. One of the key issues on the agenda was the discussion of the implementation of the federal project "Regional and Local Road Network," which is part of the national project "Infrastructure for Life." As reported by the director of the Department of Transport and Road Management Andrey Zhitnikov, this project is the main tool for achieving the national goal of creating a comfortable and safe living environment. In 2026, it is planned to repair sidewalks with a total area of 23,783 sq. m, as well as seven sections of roads with a length of 11.276 km. In addition, a road surface will be laid over an area of 202,450 sq. m. The total funding will amount to 930 million rubles. Zhitnikov specified that municipal contracts have already been concluded for the continuation of repairs on several sections, including Udmurt, Karl Marx, Kuzbass, Novikov-Priboy streets, and the Mizin Bridge overpass. By the end of March, purchases are planned for three more facilities — on Kazan Highway and Ryabtsev and Zvezdinka streets. Following the discussion, the deputies approved candidates for assignment to the facilities of the repair campaign. In response to a question from the deputy head of the association Stanislav Prokopovich about pothole repairs, Zhitnikov reported that work is already underway by municipal road enterprises in each district of the city using recyclers. Contractors for further work will be determined by the end of March, and the work itself will begin in April. Funding will amount to 320 million rubles. At the same time, the list of facilities is being formed, including based on requests from residents through the "Lobachevsky" platform. At the end of the meeting, the deputies discussed the agenda for the upcoming meeting of the City Duma, which includes 23 questions. Summarizing, Evgeny Kostin noted that the practice of assigning deputies to facilities has been in place for several years and has proven its effectiveness. According to him, "the main goal of assignment is to increase the quality control of work performed at the facilities in close interaction with the residents of Nizhny Novgorod." He added that this system was previously used within the frameworks of the projects "Formation of a Comfortable Urban Environment," "You Decide!" and "Safe Quality Roads," and is now being extended to road repair and construction directions within the framework of the new national project. In addition, Kostin announced an innovation: a section on mentorship has been added to the association's regulations. This will allow newly elected deputies to receive support and professional guidance from more experienced colleagues if necessary.
