Analysts found out what residents of Nizhny Novgorod watched and read during the New Year holidays.
Nizhny Novgorod residents spent the New Year holidays watching their favorite movies and series, reading books, and listening to music. MTS specialists, together with analysts from the ON Media holding, conducted a study to find out which content was most popular among the region's residents.
Movies and Series
In the online cinema "KION," family content—animated films, comedies, and holiday shows—was in the highest demand during the New Year holidays. The most popular Russian films and series among Nizhny Novgorod residents were: "Alice in Wonderland," "The Wild Empress," "Sergiy Against the Evil," "Zheka Russell," and "The Family Man." In the category of foreign content, the leaders were "Home Alone," "Dracula," "Ladybug and Cat Noir," "The Long Walk," and "Tom and Jerry." Traditionally, during the New Year holidays, TV channels broadcasted favorite holiday films, musical shows, and New Year's "lights." Nizhny Novgorod residents most often watched "Channel One," "Russia 1," "TNT," and "REN TV."
Books
According to the "KION Lines" service, the most popular books among residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region during the New Year holidays were "Space Quest" by Mikhail Mikheev, "Fireball. Book 7. Different Sides" by Andrei Vasilyev, "Before Exile" by Prince Felix Yusupov, "The Brothers Karamazov" by Fyodor Dostoevsky, and "Tunnel" by Yana Wagner.
Nizhny Novgorod residents most often chose genres such as fantasy, science fiction, romance novels, and detective stories.
Music
In the music streaming service "KION Music," Nizhny Novgorod residents most frequently listened to pop music, rap, and dance tracks. The list of the most listened-to tracks included: Betsy, Ded M—"Under the New Year," Sabi, MIA BOYKA—"Basic Minimum," Djigan, ARTIK & ASTI, NILETTO—"Hoodie." As noted by MTS director in the Nizhny Novgorod region Andrei Belov, the preferences of Nizhny Novgorod residents reflected nationwide trends while maintaining local flavor—such as increased interest in historical memoirs and domestic fantasy. According to him, this indicated a mature taste among the audience and their desire for diverse leisure activities. "In Nizhny Novgorod, we recorded three trends—love for family content, a penchant for captivating stories, and an unquenchable appetite for dance music," added Andrei Belov.
