A KAMAZ truck thief was detained in Perevozsky District.

      A suspect in the theft of a KamAZ truck was detained in Perevozsky District. This was reported by the Nizhny Novgorod Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

      On December 28, 2025, police in the town of Perevoz received a report from the director of a local company about a KamAZ vehicle missing from the premises of a wood-processing enterprise. Law enforcement officers quickly identified the perpetrator — a 46-year-old man living in Pilninsky District of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. Shortly thereafter the man was arrested.

      The man admitted his guilt and explained that he stole the vehicle because he was intoxicated and needed transport to get home. However, the truck stalled due to a lack of fuel, and the offender had to spend the night inside the cab; in the morning he walked to Perevoz.

      The vehicle was found and will be returned to its lawful owner. A criminal case has been opened on the theft under Article 166 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Unlawful possession of a vehicle"). The suspect has been placed under a restraining measure — an undertaking not to leave and to observe rules of conduct. He faces up to five years in prison for the committed crime.

      Earlier it was reported that police returned a stolen BMW worth 13 million rubles to a Nizhny Novgorod resident.
