Nizhny Novgorod energy workers remain on heightened alert due to expected bad weather.

According to forecasts from the Hydrometeorological Center, on January 9–10 an atmospheric front is expected to pass through some areas of the Nizhny Novgorod region, which may lead to heavy snow, freezing rain and icy conditions.

"Nizhnovenergo" moved to a heightened readiness mode back on January 7. Company specialists have increased monitoring and control over the power supply to all consumers.

To enable rapid response to possible effects of the bad weather, 183 crews have been prepared, comprising 665 people and 335 units of specialized equipment. Special attention is being paid to socially important facilities and infrastructure. If necessary, 191 backup power sources with a total capacity of about 4.16 MW will be used to supply them.

A round-the-clock operational headquarters is working at the branch, coordinating its actions with territorial divisions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and executive authorities. Continuous monitoring of weather conditions and control over the state of energy facilities are also being carried out.

Energy workers strongly advise residents to be vigilant and cautious. If you find downed power lines, you must immediately report it to the power company or an EMERCOM office, and under no circumstances approach the damaged areas.
