In the Nizhny Novgorod region, energy workers have been placed on an enhanced work regime due to approaching inclement weather. According to forecasters, heavy snowfall is expected in the region on January 7 and 8 in connection with the passage of an atmospheric front.
"Nizhnovenergo" has been put on heightened alert. Company specialists have stepped up control over the stability of consumers' power supply.
To rapidly address possible consequences of the bad weather, 179 mobile crews have been formed. They include 608 employees and 348 units of specialized equipment.
If necessary, they can be quickly connected to 201 backup power sources with a total capacity of about 4.16 megawatts.
An operational headquarters is in place at the branch. Continuous information exchange has been established with EMERCOM units and executive authorities. Meteorological conditions are being monitored around the clock, and continuous oversight is maintained over the operation of energy facilities.
Energy workers urge residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region to exercise caution. If you discover downed power lines, you should immediately report this to the power company or the nearest EMERCOM office. Approaching damaged lines is strictly prohibited.
According to the forecast, up to 51 cm of snow may fall over three days, which is above the January norm. Thus, 6.4 million m3 of snow will fall onto the roadway. Currently, 1,345 units of special equipment and 3,542 road workers have been mobilized for the city's cleanup.
