The mother of the train-hopper who attacked the driver of a Nizhny Novgorod tram was punished.

      Nizhny Novgorod police held the mother of one of the teenagers who staged a dangerous ride on the outside of a tram responsible.

      Recall that the incident occurred on January 5 on tram route No. 5, which connects Lyadov Square with Myza. Two 12-year-old children and a 17-year-old teen hooked onto the outside of a festively decorated tram and rode on its exterior from one stop to another.

      When the driver and one of the passengers tried to detain the offenders, one of the 12-year-olds sprayed pepper spray directly into the driver's face. The man suffered chemical burns to his eyes and was taken to a medical facility, where he received treatment.

      The report of the incident was received by the duty unit of Police Department No. 6 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Nizhny Novgorod from the 47-year-old tram driver.

      Law enforcement officers identified the perpetrators. One of the minors was handed over to a juvenile affairs inspector.

      An administrative report was drawn up against the mother of the 12-year-old under Article 5.35 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation — "Failure by parents or other legal guardians to fulfill duties to maintain and raise minors."

      At the moment, police continue their efforts to identify all participants in the incident.
