According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, a pensioner filed a report of fraud with Police Department No. 5 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Nizhny Novgorod.

      The woman said that for two weeks she had been messaging with someone who claimed to be an employee of the management company, who told her that the building’s intercom would soon be replaced and that new keys needed to be made.

      The correspondent convinced the Nizhny Novgorod resident that the keys would be made free of charge, and all she needed to do was provide the personal code received in an SMS message. After the pensioner recited the numbers, someone pretending to be a law-enforcement officer contacted her and warned that after the code was given to a third party, unknown persons had drawn up a power of attorney and were trying to steal her money, so it was necessary to urgently transfer all her savings to a “safe” account.

      Following the instructions, the pensioner transferred her personal savings of 785,000 rubles to an unknown account via an ATM in the Nizhegorodsky district of Nizhny Novgorod. A criminal case has been opened.
