Educational and scientific organizations of the Nizhny Novgorod region are obliged to timely extend the temporary stay of foreign students in Russia. This was reminded by the regional Migration Affairs Directorate of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

Under the current procedure, it is the educational or scientific institution where the foreign national studies that is responsible for processing the documents. The application to extend the period of stay must be submitted no later than 20 days before the end of the current permitted period.

Documents can be submitted in two ways: in person to the migration unit or through the authorized federal state unitary enterprise of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

It is noted that failure to comply with these requirements entails serious consequences. In case of an overstay, the foreign student loses the right to legal stay in the country and may be entered into the register of controlled persons.

The migration service urges universities and research institutions to responsibly fulfill their established obligations and not to allow violations of document submission deadlines.

Earlier it was reported that the Nizhny Novgorod migration divisions will change their work schedule during the New Year holidays. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
