Medals "For Support of the Special Military Operation" were awarded to Nizhny Novgorod volunteers at the Legislative Assembly.

      The ceremony awarding medals "For Support of the Special Military Operation" to the most active members of the volunteer community took place in the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.       The awards were presented by regional parliament deputy Solomon Apoyan.

      Recall that on December 18, 2025 deputies of the Legislative Assembly decided to confer a new regional award on citizens who demonstrated an outstanding civic stance, selflessness and effectiveness in organizing aid to participants in the special military operation, supporting their families, as well as civilians in border areas.

      Among those awarded were experienced organizers whose assistance began as early as 2014. Alexey Gerasin, founder of the center "Nizhny Novgorod — Donbass," over ten years organized more than 500 humanitarian missions, with the majority of the cargo delivered at his own expense. Despite sustaining injuries, he continues to lead a network of 1,500 volunteers and established the production of specialized equipment. Svetlana Khabuzova, who created the group "A Ray of Light. Everything for Victory," brought together almost two thousand people and sent 43 convoys with supplies, as well as supervised the running of a soup kitchen and the weaving of camouflage nets.

      On that day they also honored those who personally deliver aid to the zone of the special military operation. Alexander Tumashov made more than 60 trips, delivering to the military dozens of pieces of equipment, drones, hundreds of radios and bulletproof vests, and organizing deliveries of humanitarian cargo for civilians. Anastasia Malaskina, as curator of the project "Everything for Victory!", brought the region into the top five for efficiency, sending over 120 convoys and establishing systematic work with thousands of volunteers and enterprises.

      Medical volunteering was also represented by prominent figures. Lyubov Trefilova, who combines running a polyclinic with work in the "Medical Volunteers," organized systematic support for participants in the special military operation and their families, including transferring vehicles and medical equipment. Darya Chechurova, supervising the collection point for aid at PIMU, sent more than 1.5 tons of cargo to the front and by personal example motivates students and colleagues to this important work.

      "Today we honor the true heroes of our time — people who, without loud words, prove their devotion to the Motherland and their compatriots through daily work. Their contribution to the common cause cannot be overestimated. This is not just assistance; it is systematic, professional and often dangerous work that saves lives, strengthens the spirit and gives hope. Deep gratitude for your courage and resilience," commented Solomon Apoyan.
