On New Year's night, 390 residents of Nizhny Novgorod sought emergency medical assistance. This was reported by Alexey Nikonov, editor-in-chief of the medical publication "Stacionar-press," on his Telegram channel.

In 49 cases medical intervention was not required — patients' conditions improved before the arrival of the ambulance crew.

Among adults, the most frequent cause of calls was exacerbations of gastrointestinal diseases. According to medics, this is linked to overeating and consuming fatty foods on the holiday night.

Ten people sought help for alcohol intoxication. There were also 50 cases of exacerbations of cardiovascular disease and five strokes.

Seventy-four patients were hospitalized in on-duty hospitals to receive specialized care.

As for children, the most common reason for ambulance calls was symptoms of acute respiratory viral infection (ARVI). Earlier it became known that 15 minors were hospitalized on New Year's night, four of them with alcohol poisoning.
