Nizhny Novgorod residents were reminded of the rules for safe snow tubing.

      The Office for Civil Defense, Emergency Situations and Fire Safety of the Nizhny Novgorod Region reminded residents of the region about the rules for safe behavior during winter outdoor recreation.

      Tubing on "vatrushkas" (inflatable tubes), sledges/ice sleds, snowboarding and skiing traditionally become especially popular in winter. However, rescuers emphasize that such pastimes can be not only enjoyable but also potentially dangerous.

      To avoid injuries, specialists recommend following several simple but important rules. First of all, do not overload tubing — each model is rated for a specific weight indicated in its specifications. Seating several people on one "vatruška" increases the risk of falling out and injury.

      It is also strictly forbidden to link tubes together into a "train" — this can cause them to overturn. Before descending, make sure the bottom of the slope is clear and there is space to brake.

      It is important to inspect the slope in advance: there should be no holes, bumps, bushes, rocks or other obstacles that could damage the tube or cause injuries.

      Rescuers strongly recommend not riding while under the influence of alcohol, and also not standing up or jumping on the tube while it is moving.

      You should ride only while sitting. In addition, it is unacceptable to tie inflatable sleds to snowmobiles, cars or other vehicles.

      In case of an emergency, you must immediately call the emergency services number — 112.
