In 2025, 28,000 residents of Arzamas underwent medical screenings at the Central City Hospital, Mayor Alexander Shchyolokov said. He emphasized that this is an important part of the program for early detection and prevention of diseases.
Special attention was paid to the detection of oncological diseases. Suspicions of malignant tumors were identified in 1,735 people, and 61 cases were laboratory-confirmed. It is important to note that early detection of 69% of cancers at stages I–II significantly increases the chances of successful treatment and a favorable outcome.
Also identified were 956 cases of diseases of the circulatory system and 117 new cases of diabetes mellitus. Six people were found to be HIV-positive, and 92 people were found to have hepatitis C.
Risk factors that may contribute to the development of diseases were analyzed. Sixty-one percent of residents have low physical activity, 59% have a poor diet, 40% have elevated cholesterol levels, and 26% are obese.
The mayor said that work will continue in 2026 to increase the coverage of residents by dispensary monitoring. Health trains will be deployed to workplaces and production sites. Successful events have already been held with AMZ, APZ, "Temp-Avia", "Start", "Rikor", the Vodokanal and APAT.
It is planned to expand coverage to the trade, personal services and public sectors, as well as to hold events in rural areas.
"And we must always remember that the opportunity to undergo a medical screening is available to everyone today. Laziness still dominates," Alexander Shchyolokov noted.
