In the Nizhny Novgorod region there is a risk of new cases of rabies in animals. This is reported by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the region.
According to the information provided, Vorotynsky and Perevozsky municipal districts and Kstovsky District of Nizhny Novgorod are considered the most problematic municipalities in terms of the spread of the disease among animals.
At the same time, the agency added, the occurrence of an emergency is unlikely.
Recall that earlier a quarantine for animal rabies was established in the village of Fokino and in the settlement of Sheremetyevo of the Vorotynsky municipal district, as well as in the villages of Maidan and Sloninetz in Kstovsky District.
By the way, owners of domestic cats and dogs that have bitten people or other animals are required, within 12 hours, to take the pet to a veterinary clinic for a clinical examination by a specialist and to keep it isolated under the supervision of the state veterinary service for 10 calendar days.
Due to the tense rabies situation, the Rosselkhoznadzor Department strongly recommends carrying out preventive vaccination of dogs and cats against rabies at any veterinary institution in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Vaccination is provided free of charge in state institutions.
