Nizhny Novgorod residents were warned of heavy snowfall on December 25.

      Residents of Nizhny Novgorod and the region were warned about heavy snowfall and icy conditions expected on the evening of December 25 and lasting until the morning of December 26.

      As reported by the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Upper Volga UGMS", the bad weather will begin in the southwestern districts of the region. Within 1–3 hours, intense snowfalls and icy conditions are expected in some districts of the region and in the capital of the Volga region.

      Due to the worsening weather conditions, the risk of emergencies is increasing. Power and communications lines may be torn down, utility services may be disrupted, roads at all levels may face difficulties, and there may be an increase in the number of road traffic accidents.

      In addition, meteorologists do not rule out disruptions at the airport.

      There is a possibility of collapse of individual building elements and structures due to the high snow load.

      The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region recommends that residents of the region, if possible, refrain from traveling by car and be especially careful on the streets. In icy conditions, it is important to take precautions to avoid injuries.
