Nizhny Novgorod entered the top 10 in terms of the number of "smart" devices for businesses.

      The Nizhny Novgorod Region entered the top ten Russian regions with the largest number of smart devices used in business, according to data from MTS's digital ecosystem. The region ranked sixth in the national ranking by number of M2M solutions applied across various industries.

      The greatest activity in the use of intelligent technologies was demonstrated by government institutions, the construction sector and the housing and utilities sector. The latter showed the highest growth rate — almost 17% year-on-year. This is related to the widespread introduction of smart meters and automated resource accounting systems, such as for electricity, heat and water.

      Information technology took second place in terms of dynamics with a 14% increase. Here the growth is driven by the development of corporate infrastructure, increased interest in cloud services and platforms for remote work.

      Third place was taken by heavy industry, where growth amounted to about 11.7%. In this sector sensors and industrial telemetry systems are increasingly being used, allowing real-time monitoring of equipment condition, prompt detection of faults and prevention of emergency situations.

      According to Andrey Belov, director of MTS in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the region’s entry into the top 10 testifies to a systemic digital transformation of the economy. He noted that today more and more companies realize the importance of automation to increase efficiency. Progress is especially noticeable in the housing and utilities sector, and interest in IT solutions and cloud technologies is also rapidly growing.

      In the top ten by number of M2M devices, in addition to Nizhny Novgorod, were Moscow and Moscow Region, St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region, Sverdlovsk Region, Krasnodar Krai, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Novosibirsk Region, Orenburg and Rostov regions.
