The regional government will hold an event for pregnant women from Nizhny Novgorod.

      In the Nizhny Novgorod Region, New Year’s wishes will be granted for residents who were facing a reproductive choice and decided to have a baby. Heads of executive authorities will join the regional government’s charity campaign, which launched this week.

      The idea to support women who kept their pregnancies after consultations with specialists was proposed by the ANO “Institute of Demographic Development.” It is being implemented as part of the program to achieve demographic stability “OSNOVA – the Nizhny Novgorod life project.”

      As the institute noted, the percentage of women deciding in favor of giving birth is gradually increasing. Today, every fifth patient facing a reproductive choice decides in favor of motherhood. This has largely been achieved thanks to effective pre‑abortion counseling in public medical institutions and the implementation of the “Demographic Emergency Assistance” program.

      Support for pregnant women includes individual in‑person and remote consultations with specialists, answers to pressing questions via the hotline 8 800 775–31-52, and communication through the project’s “Demographic Emergency Assistance” Telegram bot. Useful materials on available support measures are posted on the website сохрани.рф, and it is also possible to submit a request for a consultation with a specialist through a convenient communication channel. All services are provided free of charge with full confidentiality.

      Participants in the charity campaign included Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Dmitry Starostin, Minister of International and Interregional Relations of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Olga Guseva, Head of the Main Civil Registry Office (ZAGS) of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Olga Krasnova, Minister of Education and Science of the region Mikhail Puchkov, and other officials.

      “I am pleased that I can help a woman who has chosen life and family. Motherhood is an important stage for a woman, full of joys and trials, and every mother deserves support along this path. Even small gestures of kindness can be a light in difficult times so that every mother feels she is not alone,” said Olga Guseva.

      “Fulfilling a New Year’s wish for an expectant mother is a great joy for me! Ahead of her is a real miracle — the birth of a baby. Of course, a child needs a crib, and I will be happy to give such a gift to the family,” shared Olga Krasnova.

      The director of the Institute of Demographic Development, Evgeny Zhuravlev, noted that timely support can make a big difference in a reproductive choice situation.

      “A conversation with a psychologist or an explanation from a specialist about options a woman may not yet know about can be the support she needs. When a woman seeking help gains confidence that she is not alone, she also gains the resources to overcome difficulties. We do everything to ensure that help is accessible and timely, and that such stories continue with the birth of longed‑for children who will be surrounded by care,” he explained.

      It should be recalled that work to stabilize the demographic situation in the region is being carried out in accordance with the goals and objectives of the new national project “Family.” By decision of the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin, the period from 2025 to 2030 has also been declared the Five-Year Family Period in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
