Young journalists from the Palace of Children's Creativity won awards in the "Guide to the Small Homeland" competition.

      The results of the 5th All‑Russian local history competition "Guide to the Small Homeland," dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the Russian Geographical Society and the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, have been summed up.

      A total of 895 works were submitted by 1,600 participants from 82 regions of Russia, as well as from Belarus and Kazakhstan. Four video tours were prepared in the "Journalism" association of the Sarov Palace of Children's Creativity. All of them are noted in the final protocol.

      The jury determined the winners (1st–3rd places) and prizewinners in four categories and six age groups. Second places were taken by Mikhail Demidov, who told about the natural beauties of the Sarov Monastery, and Sofya Glagoleva, who revealed some of the secrets of the monastery churches.

      The prizewinners were Viktoria Romanova and the creative team — Lev Voloshin, Sergey Korobko, Zakhar Nalivkin. Vika participated in the "Cultural and Educational Route" category with a tour of places associated with Venerable Seraphim of Sarov. The group created a themed walk "Scientists of Sarov" from the VNIIEF Arms Museum to the house‑museum of Academician Khariton.

      "We are pleased. Considering the strict selection and high competition, a result of four out of four is good," says the head of the young journalists, Svetlana Mikhailova‑Listrem. "I hope that other children will also gain additional incentive to take part in contests, which are becoming ever more numerous. Their subjects are extremely varied, so everyone can show their abilities."
