More than 30,000 residents of Nizhny Novgorod received rehabilitation equipment.

      As part of a ten-day period dedicated to people with disabilities, the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Social Fund of Russia reported on the available support measures for residents of the region.

      Each year the branch provides citizens with disabilities, including children, with technical rehabilitation aids and prosthetic-orthopedic products recommended in individual rehabilitation or habilitation programs (IPRA).

      The federal list includes more than 300 items, among them wheelchairs, hearing aids, prostheses, as well as devices for blind and hard-of-hearing people.

      In 2025, residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region were supplied with more than 2.3 million units of technical rehabilitation aids. The total value of deliveries amounted to nearly 1.5 billion rubles. Support was received by more than 30,000 people, including around 3,000 children.

      The most convenient way to receive rehabilitation aids remains the electronic certificate. It is a personalized digital record linked to a MIR card and allows recipients to choose the needed item themselves through the fund’s online catalog.

      In addition, the Social Fund branch finances typhlo- and surdo-translation services. Since the beginning of the year, more than 370 Nizhny Novgorod residents have used them — totaling over 4.4 million rubles. Blind residents of the region receive guide dogs. Currently 16 people in the region have such assistants. All owners are entitled to compensation for the animal’s upkeep — 37,832.53 rubles.

      Among other support measures are additional paid days off for parents of children with disabilities. Four days off are provided each month, and unused days can be accumulated and used within the year. Since the beginning of 2025, more than 60,000 such days have already been paid.

      The Nizhny Novgorod branch of the fund also organizes sanatorium and resort treatment. In 2025, 4,301 vouchers were purchased, of which 1,150 were for children with disabilities.

      Special attention is paid to veterans of the special military operation. They are provided with sanatorium-resort treatment and rehabilitation in the fund’s specialized institutions. Already 260 Nizhny Novgorod residents from this category have completed a recovery course. Travel expenses to and from the facility are reimbursed, and a decision on referral is made within two working days.

      You can apply for rehabilitation aids, a sanatorium voucher or other support measures through the Gosuslugi portal. Today more than 100 services of the Social Fund are available there.

      When providing participants in the special military operation with technical rehabilitation aids, electronic certificates are issued automatically, without the need to submit an application.

      In addition, a number of payments (including the monthly cash payment — EDV — and disability pensions) are also assigned without an application.

      It was previously reported that residents of Nizhny Novgorod can arrange additional leave to care for a child with a disability.
