The Nizhny Novgorod Eco-Biennale has been recognized as the best creative event of the year.
December 2, 2025, 09:48 Culture and Leisure The First International Biennale of Environmental Art (0+), which took place in Nizhny Novgorod and concluded in November, won the prestigious Russian Creative Awards. The exhibition was recognized as the main creative event of the year, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin reported on his Telegram channel. The biennale won in the "Creative Event" category, edging out the International Music Competition "Intervision" and the festival "Theatrical Boulevard – 2025," which took place this summer in Moscow. Recall that the first International Biennale of Environmental Art was held in Nizhny Novgorod from April 18 to November 20, 2025. The exhibitions and projects featured more than 110 contemporary artists from 45 countries. The governor noted that installations, video art, photographs, paintings, graphics and sculptures were displayed across different parts of the city. Over the six months, the exhibitions were visited by more than 173,000 people. The head of the region thanked everyone who helped implement the project. "First of all, this is probably the most important and authoritative award in the country right now in the field of creative art and the creative industries. And for us, on the one hand, this is the culmination of a long journey and the success of a project very dear to our hearts. It is always very gratifying and gives a kind of feeling of inner justice. But on the other hand — it is the beginning of something new, it is a foundation for moving forward. Our international biennale was the first, and our main task is to ensure that the first is not the last, and that the second will be even more impressive," the head of the region said.
