In November 2025, officers of the Rosselkhoznadzor Directorate for the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Republic of Mari El conducted a phytosanitary inspection at Nizhny Novgorod V.P. Chkalov International Airport. Sixty-eight international flights were inspected, as well as the hand luggage and checked baggage of passengers arriving both from distant foreign countries and from Customs Union states.
During the inspection, specialists found a violation of Russian legal requirements. Among passengers arriving from Uzbekistan, 26.5 kg of plant products subject to quarantine were detected. Seized items included dried fruit, raisins, walnuts and almonds.
The products were brought into the territory of the Russian Federation without phytosanitary certificates, which contradicts paragraph 7 of Article 22 of Federal Law No. 206-FZ of July 21, 2014. In addition, this type of product is prohibited from being imported into the country.
The identified goods were declared non-compliant with safety requirements and destroyed. Disposal was carried out by incineration in a special furnace located on the airport premises.
Earlier it was reported that 12 batches of infected vegetables and fruits were found in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
