The volleyball players of "Gorky" could not beat "Nova".

      The home match for Gorky’s volleyball players proved tense and dramatic. The Nizhny Novgorod side hosted "Nova" from the Samara region and lost in a hard-fought battle, 2:3.

      The start of the match did not go in favor of the hosts. The first two sets went to the visitors — 23:25 and 22:25. However, after adjustments to the lineup Gorky came alive and seized the initiative. The third and fourth sets went to the Nizhny Novgorod team — 25:17 and 26:24.

      Unfortunately, in the deciding tiebreak their own mistakes told. "Nova" took advantage of the opportunities and finished off Andrey Dranishnikov’s charges — 11:15.

      The top scorer for Gorky was opposite Pavel Zheleznyakov, who scored 21 points. The most efficient player by won-to-lost ball ratio was outside hitter Sergey Nikitin with a +10.

      "A lot just didn't work. Reception didn't work, serve didn't work, attack didn't work, everything together. We generally looked flat at the start; I connect that with the fact that we play almost every 3–4 days, and this is already our third five-set match. Of course, it's sometimes hard to find the emotions, but then we made substitutions, other guys came on, and the team shook itself up a bit, everything started moving. We kind of turned the game around a little, got a bit fired up, slightly fixed the reception; again, if you look at the numbers, the reception was very good, and accordingly it became easier for us both to receive and to attack off those balls. But in the fifth set we, unfortunately, made many more of our own mistakes," the head coach commented.

      The Nizhny Novgorod side will play their next match (6+) on December 2 in Moscow against the local Dynamo.
