A Nizhny Novgorod man who went missing in the autumn was found dead in Mari El.

      In the village of Sharanga, the murder of a 47-year-old man, who had been missing since September 2025, has been solved. His mother contacted law enforcement, the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported.

      A criminal case was opened under the charge of "Murder." During the investigation, various versions were examined, ranging from voluntary disappearance to possible criminal activity.

      The victim's body was found in the neighboring Republic of Mari El. A suspect was also identified — a 22-year-old local resident.

      According to the investigation, the tragedy occurred in September on Gorky Street in Sharanga. A quarrel broke out between the men, during which the suspect stabbed the other man several times in the head and torso. The victim died at the scene from his injuries.

      To conceal the traces of the crime, the accused transported the body out of the region and left it in an open area in another republic.

      The young man was detained. The investigation has already filed a motion with the court for his pretrial detention.

      As part of the investigation, searches were carried out using forensic equipment, witnesses were questioned, and the necessary examinations were ordered. Investigative actions continue — all circumstances of the incident are being established and evidence is being collected.

      Earlier it was reported that a drunken woman from Nizhny Novgorod stabbed her brother in the Sovetsky District.
