Young diplomats from Nizhny Novgorod were introduced to the work of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Kazan.

      Deputy Consul General of the PRC in Kazan Cao Lunquan held a meeting with participants of the "Y.E. Fokin Young Diplomat School" project. The meeting took place as part of the visit of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kazan to Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.

      The event was also attended by Minister of International and Interregional Relations of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Olga Guseva and the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Nizhny Novgorod, Sergey Malov.

      "We strive to comprehensively educate our schoolchildren by providing them with unique opportunities to communicate with representatives of foreign countries. A meeting with the Deputy Consul General of the PRC in Kazan, Cao Lunquan, is an important step for young diplomats in expanding their knowledge about China and our cooperation. We are confident that such events will help them better understand international relations and prepare them for future careers in the field of international affairs," said Olga Guseva, Minister of International and Interregional Relations of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.

      Cao Lunquan told the young diplomats about key aspects of China’s policy, including foreign economic strategies, cultural initiatives and approaches to international cooperation. He emphasized the importance of mutual understanding and dialogue between countries to address global challenges. The Deputy Consul General also acquainted the meeting’s participants with the activities of the Consulate General, highlighting its role in strengthening bilateral relations and developing cultural ties between Russia and China.

      "We seek to develop ties between our countries and strengthen mutual understanding. It is important that the younger generation of diplomats actively participate in this process, bringing fresh ideas and new approaches; their efforts can play a key role in shaping the future of international cooperation. I hope that participants in the ministry’s projects will work on creating strong ties between our peoples, promoting the exchange of culture, knowledge and experience. This will help us better understand one another and find common solutions to the global challenges we face today," said Cao Lunquan.

      As part of the visit, Olga Guseva also met with the delegation. The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Nizhny Novgorod, Sergey Malov, took part in the meeting. The parties summed up the region’s cooperation with China and outlined areas of interaction for 2026.

      "China is a strategic partner of the Russian Federation, and we are particularly pleased with the Consulate General of China’s attention to educational projects in our region, which also receive support from the Russian Foreign Ministry. The 'Y.E. Fokin Young Diplomat School' project and the 'Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Internationalists Club' provide young people with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the fundamentals of diplomacy and international relations. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our Chinese colleagues for their support of Nizhny Novgorod educational initiatives and for the opportunity for our schoolchildren and students to visit the Consulate General of the PRC in Kazan," said Sergey Malov.
