HC "Start" beat "Kuzbass" in the first home match of the season.

Hockey players of Nizhny Novgorod's "Start" secured their first victory in the Russian championship by beating the reigning national champion — Kemerovo's "Kuzbass". The match took place on November 26 at the Trud stadium and ended 5:4 in favor of the hosts.
"Start" began the match actively. Right at the start Denis Igoshin scored two goals. The visitors responded, but the Nizhny Novgorod side once again increased the lead thanks to a goal by Anatoly Golubkov — 3:1. Before the break "Kuzbass" reduced the deficit, but Yuri Ivanchikov kept "Start" in the game by saving a penalty.
In the second half "Start" scored twice more. "Kuzbass" managed to respond with two goals, but could not equalize.
The Nizhny Novgorod team played the match in an exclusive kit with Khokhloma-style painting.
Start's next match (6+) will take place on November 29 against Sibselmash from Novosibirsk.
It was previously reported that the opening of the Ice Arena on Strelka was postponed to 2026.
