The new branch of the V. P. Chkalov Palace of Children's Creativity on Composer Kasyanov Street has opened.

      The new branch of the V.P. Chkalov Palace of Children's Creativity on Kompozitora Kasyanova Street has opened. This was reported by the city’s head, Yuri Shalabaev, on his social media.

      Recall that previously both the building itself and the adjacent territory were abandoned — they underwent major repairs and landscaping.

      “We are starting work at the new branch of the Palace of Children's Creativity — the institution has received an educational license. For the 1,100 children who will study here, spacious classrooms equipped with modern teaching equipment are ready. They will have access to more than 40 educational directions, including technical, artistic and aesthetic, socio-pedagogical, sports, natural-science and others. If I had had such opportunities in my childhood, I definitely would not have passed up robotics, programming and UAVs,” the mayor wrote.

      Thus, according to Yuri Shalabaev, schoolchildren will be able to attend different programs simultaneously, which will later help them decide on a profession. “To assist them — professional teachers, the best equipment and comfortable conditions. Success!” he added.

      As noted by the city’s Department of Education, the new structural subdivision has been named “The Palace Near Home.” The modern equipment of the classrooms, interactive multimedia equipment and technical teaching aids will allow children to effectively master curricula in an accessible and engaging format under the guidance of 30 supplementary education teachers.

      “The majority of programs are technically oriented, which is highly in demand and relevant today. Highly qualified specialists will run classes for the children in 3D modeling, robotics and programming. Children will be able to learn the basics of virtual and augmented reality, get acquainted with unmanned aerial systems and work in a graphic design studio. In addition, the institution will implement artistic and aesthetic programs such as a school of early aesthetic development, an art studio, ceramics, folk and pop vocals, art therapy, a dance school and a theatre studio. Children will also be offered socio-pedagogical programs — a media club, the art of photography, an animation studio, a junior cynologists club; physical and sports directions — a chess club, the sports-dance association ‘Elli’; and natural-science programs — ‘Mathematics Without Borders’, ‘Cooperative of Nature’s Copyrights’,” said the department director Irina Boryakova.

      She also emphasized that the main advantage is that children will be educated at a city-level institution rather than a district-level one. “This opens up the possibility for children to take direct part in most city competitions, including city conferences of the student scientific society ‘First Steps into Science’ and ‘Eureka’, as well as in city teams for sports-technical and technical disciplines, bypassing school and district stages,” Boryakova added.

      Specialists noted that before the branch opened, in October and November, the institution held Open Days and master classes, which helped children decide on a direction for supplementary education and sign up for their preferred programs.

      Recall that it was previously reported that the major renovation of the new branch of the V.P. Chkalov Palace of Children's Creativity, located on Kompozitora Kasyanova Street, had been completed. The abandoned territory near the renovated building was also landscaped. This was stated by the mayor of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, following an inspection conducted on City Day.
