Residents of the Gorodetsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region are concerned about the disappearance of water in the Sanda River. On social media they complained that the river literally dried up in just a few days.
As NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" was told by the regional Ministry of Ecology, the drop in the water level was caused by repair work on a hydraulic engineering structure located in the village of Churkino.
Work is currently underway at the site to restore the sluice gate that regulates the flow of water.
The agency clarified that the water body has been officially transferred for use to a legal entity. The river is used for land reclamation and irrigation needs.
Specialists emphasize that all permits for the use of the river have been issued in accordance with established regulations. The reduction in the water level is a temporary measure related solely to technical work.
It was previously reported that the Gorodetsky hydraulic facility will be launched in test mode in 2026.
