In Nizhny Novgorod, the design code for the Lower Volga Embankment was approved.

      In Nizhny Novgorod, the architectural concept for the Nizhnevolzhskaya Embankment section from the Chkalov Staircase to the Kanavinsky Bridge was officially approved. This was reported by the city administration’s press service.

      According to the approved design code, special attention is paid to the treatment of entrance groups. Canopies and awnings must be located strictly centered above the entrances and be executed in a unified style within a single building. This applies to both shape and size as well as the materials used.

      It is prohibited to add elements to facades that would disrupt their architectural integrity. It is also forbidden to cover decorative and artistic details of buildings. All doors on the same facade must be made in a uniform style — with the same finish, color and degree of glazing. For ground floors, the use of glazed entrance doors is recommended.

      In addition, the design code prescribes standards for informational structures. Lighting should be either internal or backlit, using neutral, daylight or cool white light. Fonts on signs should be easily readable and harmonize with the architectural appearance of the buildings.

      Earlier, Nizhny Novgorod authorities approved an updated design code for the Verkhnevolzhskaya Embankment — from the Chkalov Staircase to Sennaya Square. The document was developed taking into account current urban planning regulations and the rules for placing signs that came into force in March 2023.

      During 2025, design codes were also approved for Ulyanova Street, Kozhevennaya Street, Bolshaya Pokrovskaya, Fedorovsky Embankment, Zvezdinka Street and the "Gordeevsky Pyatachok."
