The All-Russian Society of the Blind in Dzerzhinsk celebrated its 75th anniversary.

      "We live as one family," say members of the Dzerzhinsk local branch of the All-Russian Society of the Blind.

      The celebration took place in the concert hall of the "Vera" Club for People with Disabilities. Pupils of the Sputnik Youth Center prepared dance, circus and vocal performances for the guests. Representatives of the Legislative Assembly, the City Duma and the city administration spoke kind and warm words. All of them, as well as colleagues from public organizations in Nizhny Novgorod, Bogorodsk and Lyskov, noted the enthusiasm of the local branch chairperson, Liliya Yerokhina, a woman "with gentle strength and goodwill," who leads her wards along the right path.

      Active members and veterans of the organization were honored with letters of appreciation from the president of the VOS, certificates from the central board of the VOS in Moscow, and commemorative medals for the 100th anniversary of the VOS. The concert ended with a tasty buffet.

      Dmitry Mesnyankin, the city administration’s chief of staff, thanked everyone involved in the anniversary for their active life stance and admired their ability to overcome difficulties.

      "You are always ready to support your fellow townspeople, help them develop skills and abilities, and find themselves in various activities. It's great that you don't confine yourselves to your organization but actively engage in city life," said Viktor Romanov, deputy chairman of the City Duma.
