An imported car fatally struck a 74-year-old woman in Nizhny Novgorod.

      The driver of a Renault struck a 74-year-old woman in the Sovetsky District of the regional center, the city traffic police department reported.

      The tragedy occurred on 18 November at around 17:30 near building No. 10 on Savrasov Street. The pensioner was crossing the road at an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing.

      The injured woman was rushed to hospital with severe injuries, but could not be saved — she died despite the efforts of medics.

      Earlier, another horrific road accident was reported in which two pensioners died. In Vyksa, a VAZ vehicle struck women aged 69 and 70; the driver was a man without a license. The victims were taken to hospital by ambulance, where they soon died. A criminal case has been opened.
