A "round table" was held in the regional parliament with the participation of women who provide support to participants of the special military operation. The chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Evgeny Lyulin, deputies of the regional parliament, representatives of the regional government, the Nizhny Novgorod Women's Council, the military enlistment office and lawyers took part in the event. The focus of the discussion was on specific issues that volunteers face in their work.
The women attending the meeting — of different ages and professions from various municipalities of the region — shared their personal experience in helping the front. Sofya Startseva from the Sosnovsky district has knitted 140 pairs of socks for service members since 2022. Evgenia Ivanova from the Sharangsky district organized a network of volunteer branches engaged in making camouflage nets. Galina Gologuzova from the Semenovsky district coordinates the "Meals for Victory" project to produce freeze-dried soups for 20 units.
During the discussion, key issues of coordinating assistance were addressed. Volunteers proposed creating a unified online portal to optimize work. They agreed on joint efforts and assistance from legislators in purchasing materials for the production of camouflage nets and trench candles through ANO "House of National Unity," as well as on organizing legal consultations on establishing NGOs and obtaining grants.
Volunteers paid special attention to supporting the families of fallen service members and veterans of the special military operation. Participants agreed to work on expediting paperwork and organizing psychological support for service members and their families at the regional level.
Summing up, Evgeny Lyulin thanked all the participants for their titanic labor and constructive dialogue. "According to statistics, every third Russian today engages in volunteer work, and people from Nizhny Novgorod are at the forefront here. It is important for anyone who needs support to know that there are caring people nearby. Many of these women have lost husbands and sons. But misfortune did not break them. They have sent hundreds of GAZelle and KamAZ trucks with humanitarian aid to the special military operation, and continue to do so daily. They are used to coping on their own, but this is a collective effort, and the state must not stand silently aside. They demonstrate an amazing strength of spirit, and we all have something to learn from these strong women," said Evgeny Lyulin.
