The editor-in-chief of MIA "Stacionar-Press," Alexey Nikonov, wrote on his Telegram channel about a case of advanced lung cancer in a Nizhny Novgorod resident with a 30-year history of smoking.
According to him, the 50-year-old man had been smoking roughly a pack of cigarettes a day for many years. He visited Polyclinic No. 30 in Nizhny Novgorod for the first time since 2022. The patient complained to the physician of marked weakness, shortness of breath and hoarseness.
First, the man underwent fluorography. After that, his lung condition was additionally examined with an X-ray and computed tomography.
The final diagnosis was made based on the results of bronchoscopy: the patient was found to have stage IV lung cancer. The man was referred to the Nizhny Novgorod cancer center.
Earlier we reported on a husband and wife who were both found to have rectal cancer during a colonoscopy.
It should be noted that a new cancer center is planned to be built in Nizhny Novgorod. More than 14 billion rubles have been allocated for this.
