The first kidney transplant in the history of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast was completed successfully.
Recall that the operation took place at the N.A. Semashko Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital. The donor was the father of the 18-year-old patient, who had suffered from a severe kidney disorder since birth. The hospital surgeons performed the operation together with specialists from the National Medical Research Center for Transplantology and Artificial Organs named after Academician V.I. Shumakov.
According to Alexey Nikonov, editor-in-chief of MIA "Stacionar-press", the transplanted kidney has taken, and now the young man feels well. He is full of energy and is making plans for the future.
The young man's father, Vladimir, had long been ready to take such a step. He had led a healthy lifestyle for many years, understanding that one day he might be able to help his son.
